“ The science of today is the technology of tomorrow .”
- Edward Teller , American Physicist
Science ( from Latin scientia , meaning " knowledge ") refers to knowledge from the careful study of the structure and behaviour of the physical world , especially by watching , measuring , and doing experiments , and the development of theories to describe the results of these activities . Science plays an important part of our lives – from the environment to our health and wellbeing , to the physical things developed and used in our daily lives . At SJI , there are various programmes to help our students develop their curiosity and passion in Science and the world around them . Four students share the experiences of their participation in the different science programmes in this story .

Since 1992 , the YDSP has been inviting aspiring engineers and scientists to discover more about the world of defence through a wide spectrum of programmes such as YDSP science and technology camps , YDSP World of Science modules and Research @ YDSP .
The YDSP scholarship is awarded to Secondary 3 Singaporean students on the Integrated Programme ( IP ) track ( based on their Secondary 2 performance ) who have outstanding academic results and a passion for Science and Technology . This year , Chue Zhi Sheng Jeffrey and Yeo Jun Jie Lucius ( both from FN302 ) are among the 30 awardees from the 19 IP schools in Singapore to receive this scholarship .
Eight other SJI students also received the YDSP Academic Award , which recognises
