Mass games were a highlight for many of us as we travelled across the island to Sentosa Siloso beach . From getting soaked in the sea to crawling on the sand , priceless memories and bonds were formed . One of the wonderful moments of mass games was when my spontaneous form tutor , Mr Kevin Seet , participated with us in the wet games . I was very touched by Mr Seet ’ s active participation as he showed us the meaning of class spirit . The wonderful time we had during the Amazing Race cannot be easily forgotten as we moved around Singapore completing challenges and decoding clues . At each station of the race , the importance of class unity and how to leverage on each other ’ s strengths were reinforced .
During our orientation , we were split into our respective houses - Michael , Fintan , Martian and Lawrence . We became better acquainted with
our housemates during house games . It was exhilarating to feel the house spirit heightened as each house cheered with such intense enthusiasm , that the vibration of the Founder ’ s hall could be felt .
The Orientation culminated in a campfire – the best I had ever attended ! Lit with green flames , the campfire reminded me of my burning passion for SJI that has been ignited in me during the orientation . Each tutor group showcased their wonderfully crafted performance and cheer . While I was singing ‘ St . Joseph ’ s Call ’ and ‘ Passing on the Passion ’, and standing shoulder to shoulder with my new SJI family members , my heart was overwhelmed with warmth . I had come to realise the true meaning of what an SJI family is about ; it is to be pillars of support for one another .
All the JC 1s enjoyed the orientation tremendously and many of us never wanted it to end . The memories made and the unbreakable bonds formed during the orientation will be the foundation of our SJI journey .
