can be tough , there is always hope that it will get better .
A total of 69 students , from different levels , classes and social circles came together to put up the production . Absolutely everyone who wanted to be involved was given a chance to be part of it , regardless of any experience in singing , acting or managing a show . Audience member , Andre Villanueva ( Tutor Group 201 ) said , “ It was really nice to see the camaraderie between Josephians . I know that the musical team worked really , really hard for this event , and to see it happen was nice .” Violinist Deanne Ng ( Tutor Group 106 ) commented , “ No matter what role [ a musical member ] had , big or small , it all amounted to a great success and everyone was important in his / her own ways ”. Thankfully , the show was a monumental success , and the audience seemed to laugh and cry , then laugh and cry all over again . Mark Ngoh ( Tutor Group 208 ), an audience member , expressed that “ the chosen and original music was brilliant ” and the wordplay inserted into the pieces aptly captured the mood of the songs .
It was really nice to see the camaraderie between Josephians . I know that the musical team worked really , really hard for this event , and to see it happen was nice .
Of course , while putting up a musical was a great way to display the many talents SJI students possess , it was also a platform to do something good for the community . After the shows , donations were collected and given to AGAPE Village , a Catholic organisation which helps the poor , marginalised and those limited by their circumstances .
However , while this musical is very much a student-initiated one , it could not have been possible without the support from the school . The immense faith the school put in the students was remarkable . The teachers were a colossal help ; without them , the musical team would have been at a loss to know what to do , and the script would have a million plot holes .
The musical was definitely a special one and despite the many difficulties and trials the students had to go through , all would agree that the end result was worth all the hours of effort put in . The memories forged and the friendships created will not be so easily forgotten , nor the many life lessons learnt . And to think , all of it started from a dream , some inspiration , and a little bit of hope .
