Umpi accepts the Internet of Things challenges
Thanks to the Group ’ vision and innovation capabilities , Umpi is accelerating its digital transformation and contributing to a fully networked IoT society .
Internet of Things is one of the most important part of the digital transformation process that companies and institutions have undertaken to reinvent their business models and better serve their customers / users ; IoT adoption is in strong and constant growth and concerns all those technologies able to transform any object into a smart device able to exchange information in real time , improving the production flows and the process efficiency . Umpi since 2017 is part of DigitalPlatforms Spa , an Italian industrial group , rapidly growing , operating in the sector of Internet of Things , Cyber and digital technologies . Being a DP company , Umpi can leverage the Group ’ s technological , manufacturing and commercial assets , at the same working with a consolidated network of highly skilled partners . The DP Group is made up of seven companies / BUs , all based in Italy , with an industrial history of between 20 and 50 years in their sector of expertise . Each of the operating companies that are part of DP Group oversees one of the different elements of IoT solution ’ s value chain . Umpi , thanks to the continuous focus on innovation , works alongside its customers to design and apply the most suitable technological solutions to drive the urban centres transformation and make them more sustainable , interconnected and “ smart ”. For years Umpi has been supporting and promoting the development of “ Smart Cities ”, carrying out projects that embody the concept of urban reality that goes beyond technological borders and that- in a broader vision ranging from mobility to energy efficiency , from data enhancement to active citizens participation- aim to improve sustainability , liveability , and economic dynamism of the cities of the future . Hence the awareness that those intelligent infrastructures need protection . Cybersecurity is one the key principle of Internet of Things . The growing field of safety and security technology is an increasingly indispensable aspect of different services segments in the context of lighting , electrical engineering and automation . Umpi endorses open and standard-based IoT technologies and has developed a security-bydesign approach , which means having security built into every solution from their very inception , providing Cities with intrinsically secure network systems . The other main challenge , that innovative company such Umpi , has to face is integration . Integration at data level , with the need to standardize the information collected by nodes and sensors in order to have them into the processes managed by the existing systems , and integration at infrastructure level , starting from the communication protocols . At Umpi , we believe that interoperability is an obligatory step to fully exploit the IoT benefits . Umpi ’ s multidisciplinary team boasts excellent software engineering skills and experience to design , implement and manage software solutions for intelligent IoT networks , available both on premise and in cloud . The software architecture has been enriched over time and guarantees interoperability , modularity and scalability never seen before . From its foundation to today , Umpi has expanded its presence in strategic areas all over the world and to continue this growing process has decided to participate to the international exhibition “ Light & Building 2022 ” in Frankfurt .
