Fulvio Baldeschi and Linea Light Group ' s shadow play narrates Albania ' s past and present

Making use of shadows and playing with darkness to bring out the light and thus emphasise the architectural lines of the site : this is the strategy adopted by Fulvio Baldeschi , lighting designer and head of Light Company , the studio in charge of the lighting project , who chose Linea Light Group products , which , for their very features , guarantee the most effective result in terms of enhancing the whole complex and the individual architectural details .

Rozafa Castle , Shkodra Perched atop a promontory , the Rozafa Fortress is the symbol of Shkodra and the ultimate viewpoint over the city and its surroundings . I-LèD Industrial ’ s Prolamp was chosen to illuminate the walls and emphasise their depth and three-dimensionality . With professional features such as light source efficiency , high colour rendering and the capacity to hold its focus , the projector is equipped with a sturdy casing that allows it to be used widely outdoors . The lighting of the inner part of the city walls and of the minaret is provided by Periskop , the projector with a modern design that provides accent lighting that emphasises the architectural details , while the linear Maxi Tube profile is used to obtain a counter-light that once again plays with shadows . The entrance area is illuminated by Envelope , the versatile path marker used here in a single-emission version , assisted by Xenia , a luminaire with multiple configuration possibilities that adapts to any lighting requirement , used here specifically to illuminate the barbican entrance .
Krujë Castle , Krujë Symbol of the ancient Albanian capital , the Castle is a fortification perched on a rocky ridge that houses , among restaurants and private homes , the Skanderbeg National Museum , the Ethnographic Museum and the iconic Clock Tower . The lighting design has established a sort of “ hierarchy of light ” that involved lighting where it was not foreseen ( as in the case of the Tower itself ), the rebalancing of light beams where they were excessive ( as in the case of the Museum ) and , finally , the highlighting of areas such as the entrance . The walls , which are rather irregular and frayed , were also carefully studied in terms of light and shadow , so as to give depth and avoid a flattening effect . For the lighting of the entrance area and barbican , Envelope path markers were chosen , alongside the linear luminaires Archiline .
I-LèD Industrial ’ s Prolamps were given the task of rebalancing the lighting in the museum and of highlighting the city walls . The lighting of the Tower called for a solution with variable optics , offered by Iris _ 67 projectors , used here with a wide beam downwards and a narrow beam upwards , to emphasise the height of the structure and its majesty . The projector ’ s graduated focus-on-board ring allows for the calibration of the beam width , thus simplifying the targeting operation , while the locking system ensures that the beam width corresponds exactly to the gradient indicated on the ring . Finally , great attention has been paid to the inner parts , from the city walls to the passage arches , where the Periskop projector has been used extensively , both for its modern lines that adapt well to different contexts , and for its ability to highlight architectural details .
Most of the luminaires are equipped with a protective grille and an external Bluetooth dimmer with Casambi protocol , the advanced professional system for wireless lighting management that , compared to the Dali network and thanks to Bluetooth technology , allows a more effective programming over the kilometric length of the wall .
