George. R. R. Martin was born september 20th 1948. He is an American author who has written the world famous book series A song of Ice and Fire, more common known as Game of Thrones. He started writing at a very young age, and already at 21 years his first book (short story) The Hero was published in a magazine called Galaxy. After the first publishing he wrote a lot of novels and short stories, but it was not until he began writing A song of Ice and Fire that his books started to take off. The series has later adapted to a television series known as Game of Thrones. He is now currently working on the next instalments in the series.
