The new Link 6S also has an upgraded user interface with intuitive controls. A
rotary channel dial facilitates quick channel selection, while large and amply
spaced buttons provide quick access to all key functions.
Dedicated Channel 16 keys enable instant access to the emergency channel and
are included on both the radio’s front panel and its four-button fist mic. It also
includes a Tri-Channel Watch Function, allowing you to scan between the current
channel, emergency channel 16, and another user-configurable priority channel.
My Channel Mode allows you to select your favourite channels for quick and
easy access. A long press on the channel dial enters My Channel Mode, where
you can cycle through just your selected favourites using the rotary channel dial.
Multiple scan modes enables you to scan through all available channels or just
your selected favourites. In either scan mode, emergency channels can optionally
be given priority to reduce the chance of missing distress calls or other urgent
safety messages. For easy installation, a gimbal bracket is included that enables
table-top, overhead, or bulkhead installation. Flush-mount installation is also
supported, with an easy mount-from-front solution.
So what are the main differences between Link 9 and Link 6S?
The Link 6S only has NMEA 0183, whereas the Link 9 has the ability to also
communicate data via the NMEA 2000 network.
Link 6S does not have AIS, whereas Link 9 includes an AIS receiver.
Link 6S does not have a built-in antenna and therefore requires the installation
of an external antenna (Lowrance SA also sells external antennas!). Link 9
includes a built-in GPS receiver in the face of the radio.
Link 6S is also slightly smaller in size, due to the decrease in internal features.
Both the Link 9 and the Link 6S are CHARCOAL GREY - the same colour
scheme as your Lowrance display.
For jetski anglers, we offer the portable Link 2 option- a full
Class-D DSC enabled VHF radio. This is a current model and is
not being replaced.
Link 2 includes built-in GPS and also allows you to save up to
300 waypoints.
Link 2 is a 5-watt VHF radio and is therefore not suited to
skiboats (skiboats require a mounted 25-watt VHF radio).
However, it’s important to note that this is a good option for
skiboats who want a back-up radio on-board.
