K-3 Music
Hello , my name is Loyda Hjelte , and I will be the music instructor for kindergarten through third grade . I am excited to begin our 2024-25 musical journey . It is my goal to closely follow the mission of CPA and give your children music instruction that is geared to their unique developmental needs . is will combine singing , reading music , playing percussion instruments , song flutes ( dependent on the grade level ), and of course , lots of movement . Your child will learn the ABCs of music , pitch , harmony , and how to notate music . We can ’ t wait to see you back , and please stop by the music room on CPA Day on Monday , August 5 .

Here are a few facts regarding the benefits of music for the young brain : Increased spatial-temporal , better academic performance , stronger literacy skills , improved language skills , better memory and coordination , higher IQ , encourages hard work and determination , but most importantly , music is a tool we use here at CPA to glorify God , bless others , learn truth , and express beauty . Welcome back ! 🎶

4-5 Music
Welcome back ! We are so excited to jump into another school year of learning how to become music makers . My name is Mr . Stevens , and this year we are going to take all of the important foundations of music making that we ’ ve learned from previous years and apply them to singing and playing instruments within an ensemble , as well as composing and improvising our own original music . By the time students leave my class at the end of fih grade , they will be prepared to jump into Middle School being confident music makers . I can ’ t wait to embark on the journey this year !
Library
Welcome back to school ! My name is Joni Nesbitt , and I am so excited to have the opportunity to foster the love of reading in our lower school students . Students will visit the library weekly as an exploratory class . Our time will be spent finding books we love to read , sharing books we love with others , and reading books we love together . We will begin checking out books right away . Fourth and fih-grade students will be able to check out four books at a time , third-grade students will be able to check out three books at a time , and kindergarten through second-grade students will be able to check out two books at a time . Books can be kept for up to two weeks and then renewed if students are still reading them . If you have found any lost books from last year , please turn them in as soon as possible .
Grades third to fih will begin in August by using one of the summer reading books for some mini book clubs . If any students in kindergarten through fih grade completed or made a real effort at completing their summer reading color page bring it into the library during August for a prize . I look forward to hearing all about summer reading and helping each student find their next favorite book !
