Low Key Literature Fall 2016 | Page 31

We got the key to our room. We stayed on the fifth floor. The only problem with that is that we took the stairs most of the time. My parents thought we needed the exercise, but I strongly disagreed with them. As we walked up the stairs my thighs were burning because I wasn't used to climbing so many stairs, especially with all of our luggage we had to carry.

I opened the door to the hotel room and I could feel the cold air that came from the room which came from the AC. The first thing I did was look in every room to see where I would be staying. I was amazed by every room, especially the bathroom. Our bathroom had a bath with a shower right next to it that had clear doors which I was never used to and there was a long wide mirror hanging in front of the shower. I never really got why I loved the bathroom so much. After checking out all of the rooms I slid the door to the balcony open. When it swung open I felt a mild breeze hit my face and my hair was flowing in the wind. The view was unlike anything I've ever seen before. Every time we walked on that balcony we had a view of the infinity pool, bar, and the best part was a view of the clear blue ocean. I just stood there for about five minutes just staring out and feeling like nothing else mattered in the world. It was so calm and relaxing and there was a sense of relief that came over me because I realized that I was there for a whole week.

After unpacking, we realized that it was time to hit the beach, so we got down to the bottom floor and walked over. On the path to the beach everywhere I looked there were lizards and salamanders just walking around. There it was normal but it freaked me out. I would see a lizard or salamander and I would run around it so fast. I'm sure I had gotten some looks.

We walked onto the path that lead to the beach and the view was like nothing I had ever seen before. I could feel the sun beating down on my skin. From left to right I could see the clear blue ocean with a view that went miles and miles. My feet stepped down into the hot sand, slowly burning my feet more and more as I walked to the lounge chairs that were everywhere. I sat down and looked out and felt like I was in paradise.
