You Are

By: Casey Finn

When I first learned that no one could ever love me more than me,

A world of happiness previously unseen was opened up.

Because somewhere along the line of

aging, and scrutiny, and time

I was taught to despise myself

By a society that shuns our awful confidence

And feed us our own flaws

And when I need to find the me that loves me

I can't find her.

Since when was loving who we truly are

made wrong by morons who don't matter?

You can't give into them

You have to always remember that you,

You are the only you that actually matters

And no I don't mean your looks

Because someday that will all go bad,

It's unavoidable.

No matter how much you try to prevent it or conceal it.

I mean you.

I mean the real you

Whose green eyes go wild when you

speak of the things you love

Or maybe the way that your laughter is so

melodic it's a song
