I couldn't believe she had sold them i was so mad.
I left and tried to get my horses back, but the guy who bought them threatened me to call the police and have me put in jail for harassment although i had only called him twice in one month to check my horses. I couldn't go see them, I couldn't have them back, I didn't even get to say good bye to them because they were 900 km away and it is very expensive to travel in France. I was very stressed and upset.
Then I found out from my father that my mother had sold my bike and all my gears. Again i felt so mad and told her she had to pay for a trip to somewhere far away from France. I didnt want to go to America so it was out of the equation, I originally wanted to go to Japan but I thought that there were to many people there and at that moment in time I just wanted to get lost. So I thought about Australia, the only thing I had ever known about Australia was the movie Crocodile Dundee and I thought the whole Australia was like that, very poor, no electricity, no technology and very dry. Australia it was !
I first went to Cairns in a Japanese school to learn English ( I couldn’t speak English when I first arrived ). Since it was a Japanese school so I spoke a lot Japanese.
After that I went to a little farm in Gympie, for a week, where you learn what kind of work you are going to have to do on station. They have a website where you put your resume. They have a data base of property and station owners as well, so you can ring them and give them your details, they check you out on the web site and ring you back if they want to employ you. I rang heaps of people all week, but none wanted to take me. I think it was because I had a very big resume and most of it involving horses and cattle i thought they may think that I was lying. It is very rare to have a backpacker having a big horse/cattle resume like I do. Friday had arrived and I had to be gone Saturday morning and I still didn’t have a job i only had two people I was waiting for; a sport horse breeder 120km from Sydney and a cattle property 80km west of Hughenden. I was so desperate that I took the first one that rang, Hughenden rang first so that’s where I went 5 minute later The sport horse breeder rang and begged me to come work for them, I was so disapointed because they were my first choice.
When I arrived in Hughenden I had $3 left and I and had gotten lost i ended up at a roadhouse, where I had to stay for 2 weeks because it was too wet for them to come pick me up. I had been at the roadhouse for 2 days and I couldn’t stand to do nothing and have someone paying for me, so I begged the owner to give me something to do so I could pay for my accommodation and food. They made me clean everything, then do cooking and I rode their horses. You name it I’ll do it. They totally fell in love with me and said that I had to stay in Hughenden. So they had in mind to found me a husband half joke half serious, a friend of the owner turned up and they looked at each other and the owner turned around and said “you should marry her son!! He is a good bloke he’ll marry you!!” it was a joke obviously, and i wasnt quite sure i wanted to meet her son as she hadnt been the nicest of people.
After a while the property owners still had not come to pick me up and I was really keen to ride and work. So when another property owner stopped by to fuel up and order some food, the roadhouse’s owner asked him “Hey! do you want a backpacker who works very hard, can ride and break in horses, trim feet, clean like a cyclone, and is keen for work? “’ he said “yes course!! where she is?? “ I had an interview with him and he said that I was starting working on Monday. Once we were about done with the interview, i saw the most handsome man i had ever seen. Red hair with blue eyes, late twenties early thirties, thin and muscly, with a 2 weeks old beared and scruffy hair. He looked at me and smiled like Denis Quad. I went blank.
