INTRODUCING
Dr. Aneeta Bhatia
“ What can I share about Aneeta?” I am so grateful to have met Dr. Aneeta Bhatia when we were both obtaining our MBAs at the Kelley School of Business. I was so impressed with her curiosity, her willingness to participate in every activity and her calm, reassuring demeanor( not surprising from such an accomplished anesthesiologist). Our learning curriculum centered on group activities that required problem solving. Dr. Bhatia and I both were amazed at how as physicians, we wanted to solve the problem one way but quickly realized that the business solution expected was so different than our medical instincts directed. The 19 months passed quickly, and I continued to appreciate her endless curiosity.
Since then, I have had the opportunity to work closely with Aneeta as we both navigated the path of advocacy in medicine. Blending her experience as a practicing anesthesiologist with the insights gained from her MBA, guided by her innate curiosity, Dr. Bhatia has assembled a successful approach to advocacy.
As to“ what to say,” there is so much to say. I have shared many of Aneeta’ s accomplishments that have expanded her expertise while broadening her perspective. What I want to emphasize now are her personal qualities that make her an ideal candidate for President of the Greater Louisville Medical Society. Aneeta is one of the most gracious individuals whom I know, a woman who leads with her genuine curiosity creating an environment of empathy and integrity. She remains committed to continuous growth through learning: learning about who she is, leading with the goal of uplifting and empowering. Most importantly, she is an attentive and active listener!
Curiosity, empathy and integrity in conjunction with active listening are qualities that exemplify Dr. Bhatia’ s leadership style: quiet leadership. Quiet leadership does not require one to be the loudest voice in the room, but rather the voice that is trusted and listened to. Genuine concern for others fosters her strength. This leads me to reflect on,“ What qualities make a President right for this moment?” Hers!
The Greater Louisville Medical Society has gained a President that is right for this moment. My dear friend, Dr. Aneeta Bhatia’ s time is now!
