GLMS Delegates Shine at the 2025 KMA Annual Meeting picture © KMA

The 2025 Kentucky Medical Association( KMA) Annual Meeting, held August 22-24 in Louisville, brought together physicians from every corner of the Commonwealth to celebrate the power of physician leadership. Centered on the theme“ Kentucky Physicians: Leading with Every Step,” the meeting highlighted how even the smallest actions by physicians can create lasting change. The theme reflected KMA’ s“ Small STEPS, Big Impact” public health campaign, which emphasizes the many ways physicians are making a difference, whether providing care at the bedside, advocating for policies in Frankfort or guiding their communities toward better health.

Our GLMS Delegates shined at this year’ s Annual Meeting, playing an instrumental role in shaping the future of health care in Kentucky. Their hard work and dedication paid off in a big way – 13 of our submitted resolutions were successfully adopted into KMA policy. This incredible achievement showcases the strength of physician leadership in Louisville and the lasting impact our delegates are making for patients and physicians across the Commonwealth. The adopted resolutions include:
1. Safeguarding Kentucky’ s Physician Pipeline After Federal Loan Reform
2. Review of 201 KAR 9:270
3. Support for Prescribers of Medication for Opioid Use Disorder
4. Buprenorphine for Pain
5. Prior Authorizations for Medications for Opioid Use Disorder( MOUD)
6. Ensuring Physician Presence in Emergency Departments Across the Commonwealth
7. Terminology Clarification of Healthcare Professionals
8. Reestablish National Funding of SNAP( Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)
9. Childhood Water Safety
10. Promoting Online Safety Literacy in Kentucky Public Schools
11. Sex Education 12. Addressing E-Cigarette Use Among Kentucky Youth 13. Protecting Kentucky’ s Children from Counterfeit Car Seats
From tackling pressing policy concerns to contributing valuable perspectives on public health initiatives, GLMS Delegates demonstrated the power of physician advocacy in action. We extend our sincere gratitude to the GLMS Delegates and all members who dedicated their time and expertise to this year’ s meeting. Your hard work and leadership embody the very spirit of“ Leading with Every Step.”
