and by almost 300 volunteers to provide primary care for medical needs to uninsured folks. Our 25 physicians and 27 dentists receive no pay. There are about 40 nursing staff volunteers, that include RNs and APRNs. For non-English speaking patients, we have nearly 30 interpreters, and the clinic has other helpers, like social workers, counselors, clerical folks and administrators, who likewise work without pay. Most volunteers come to us via word-of-mouth, staff outreach and through partnerships, like at educational institutions. All clinicians are provided with malpractice insurance.
The amount and frequency of time commitment for being a volunteer is individually determined by each volunteer. Direct observational experiences during clinic hours are offered for someone considering the plan of becoming a volunteer. And, yes, we welcome financial donations to assist our health care delivery to patients.
Dr. Lippmann is a retired psychiatry professor from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Subsequently, he regularly provides primary medical care practice at the Family Community Clinic, clinically mentors lots of students, residents and international medical graduate physicians and teaches scientific medical writing seminars.
We get no U. S. or Kentucky funding. Finances are supported by tax-deductible donations from public or private groups, foundations and individual contributions. These charitable donations are tax-deductible and are welcomed. Louisville’ s Community Foundation provided an endowment. We provide cost-free services to anybody unable to afford medical and / or dental care.
FCC obtains laboratory tests and imaging studies provided nearby at no patient cost. The clinic can dispense some pharmaceuticals and appliances( e. g., a knee brace) directly to patients, avoiding patient-expense. However, some of them purchase their medications at pharmacies through our prescriptions.
The Family Community Clinic is a good referral option for obtaining patients cost-free primary medical and / or dental care. Personalized care is provided, without rushed appointment timing. In 2024, we delivered nearly 3,400 office visits. Besides primary care, we offer some subspecialty coverage in dermatology, endocrinology, neurosurgery, oncology and psychiatry.
For medical emergencies, complex difficult-to-treat illnesses, hospitalization-necessary cases and / or patients requiring subspecialty attention, we arrange referral to near-by facilities – usually the University of Louisville Hospital’ s Emergency Department or clinics, Louisville’ s Family Health Centers and some private facilities. Most gynecological, reproductive, pregnancy and / or obstetrical care is obtained through Family Health Center clinics.

FCC looks forward to new volunteers for most health care related, licensed professionals, that includes resident physicians after their licensure, and also for interpreter services. Malpractice insurance is provided to all clinicians at no cost to them.
