lot of folks will tell me they don’ t really like the texture – it’ s something that you have to get used to. The nice part about Mochi Wren is that you can design your own drink. So, if you don’ t want the Boba, you don’ t have to get the Boba, which is fantastic. They also have seasonal drinks that don’ t contain Boba. The day that I went, I got a strawberry Matcha latte. Matcha is also quite popular. It originates in green tea which comes from Japan. If you start paying attention at multiple coffee shops, you’ ll notice a lot of Matcha based options. Here, they muddled the strawberries, added my preference milk and then added a layer of Matcha. By the end, it was a beautifully gorgeous drink that not only looked good, it also tasted good as well.
They also have multiple other signature drinks that are as beautiful as they are tasty. The other nice part about this place is that they have some Japanese-based desserts and Chinese-based desserts. They feature a fruit sando, which is two slices of bread with whipped cream in the middle and then strawberries and other fruit, which is a rare delight, because the bread is Japanese milk bread, which is very difficult to make but very, very tasty. In addition, they make homemade egg tarts, and slices of cake with flavors of strawberry, matcha or ube. If you are not familiar, ube is a purple“ vanilla-ish” yam used frequently in Filipino cooking. The other tidbit I’ d like to give you about the Boba featured here is that it comes directly from China. The owner and his wife are from China, and they have a supplier for Boba directly from the Chinese mainland. This is a location that is only utilized by Chinatowns in New York and San Francisco. So not only are you going to get a lovely pastry experience – you’ ll also get an authentic Boba experience if you are brave enough to try it! I have a feeling we’ ll still be calling it Milo’ s a year from now – you know how Louisvillians are... times in recent years. The current owner also owns La Chasse on Bardstown Road. I would recommend making a reservation on their website and request High Tea. This is available every day they are open at 4 p. m., with reservation only. The chef makes the snacks in advance of your tea – a three-tier extravaganza of savory and sweet. When you arrive, there is a catalog of tea and hot water waiting for you. You are welcome to try any tea you like and enjoy the treats. At the end of the experience, you can even enjoy some bubbles with champagne. This is one of my favorite things to do with girlfriends.
I hope I’ ve helped you find some fun new coffee and tea places in Kentucky and Indiana. Branch out to these local spots and enjoy your brew – any of a hundred ways!
