Soon everyone starts buying the Pegasus pin The parade blocks off many of the roads causing delay in driving You can notice that business in tattoo parlors begin increasing Suddenly everyone is talking about pedigrees, horses and breeding.
The aroma of Woodford Reserve, the top shelf bourbon, fills the air Friendliness towards all visitors is the normal behavior The food bazaar, steamboat race and of course Hot Brown is there The parties, happy music and derby pie is for everyone to share.
By ten in the morning the twin spires seats begin to fill Beautiful hats, colorful clothes draw attention The sound of the bugle as the horses enter the track instills the thrill The pageantry, hands holding mint juleps heighten the pleasant tension.
The fighter jets fly over Churchill Downs announces the main event, The national anthem and my old Kentucky home precede the roar Hundred and fifty thousand voices welcome the parade of the gallants
“ My kingdom for a horse,” is obvious as the spirit of White Surrey soar!
