“ It was anxiety provoking , especially because we had only been dating a little bit at the time . We interviewed at a ton of places out of fear for how the Match worked ,” she said . “ But he had done an away rotation at the University of Cincinnati , and it was great , and we ended up matching there .”
In 2012 , they moved to Cincinnati and four years later they were married , and she finished her residency in OB-GYN . She accepted a job in West Chester at the UC Health Hospital for one year as he finished the last year of his residency program . Following that , he accepted a one-year fellowship program in adult reconstruction at Northwestern University in Chicago . Around the same time , she was at a wedding sitting next to a recruiter from Baptist Health Louisville who was looking to fill OB-GYN positions at an office with soon-to-be retirees .
“ I interviewed with them and eight months later – I first had to finish my contract in Ohio – I started here in Louisville . I was so fortunate , and my partners are amazing . For that year that he was in Chicago , they ’ d let me zoom out on a Friday and go up and see him .”
While flexible colleagues made things easier , that year was not without its own set of hurdles , but it did come with some positives as well .
“ It meant a lot of late-night flights back and forth , but it was a good experience and it taught us a lot about balancing our work and our lives and how important it is to make time for those that you love ,” she said . “ It was transitional and temporary , but in a way , we knew that it was going to be that way for the rest of our lives . While we ’ re both in health care , the demands and the schedules of orthopaedic surgery and OB-GYN are so different . It ’ s all been great , though . Our lives have changed little by little over the years .”
Finally back together in Louisville , today he works with Ortho Louisville , and she is with Baptist Health Medical Group OB-GYN ,
