From the CEO :
Embracing Community & Celebrating Triumphs
As we celebrate a year of success and transformation , I am filled with gratitude . Our dedicated ensemble of physician leaders , volunteers and staff have orchestrated yet another all-star symphonic performance creating and empowering a collaborative community and uniting physicians across specialties and practices throughout Greater Louisville .
Under the astute leadership of GLMS President , Patricia Purcell , MD , MBA , GLMS created a record number of engaging experiences , advanced meaningful advocacy and built impactful relationships that will serve as the building blocks of our community . Dr . Purcell modeled the way as she personally and intentionally empowered others throughout her presidency , reminding us that “ building community is an iterative process and takes time and resources .”
Quite noticeably , building community is at the core of our biggest GLMS year-end highlight : Physician Engagement . Active member participation is at an all-time high for our ever-expanding events and award-winning programs . For instance , our Specialty Speed Networking saw a whopping increase in physician and student participation . Similarly , our Louisville Medicine magazine witnessed a record number of entrants for this year ’ s Richard Spear , MD , Memorial Essay Contest as did the halls of the Kentucky General Assembly which experienced a record turn-out of practicing physicians and medical students dutifully wearing white coats for Physicians ’ Day at the Capitol .
Our GLMS credentialing services have continued to process initial verifications with high quality in record time , producing impressive performance metrics that continue to be way below industry standards and average turn-around times .
Our charitable arm , the GLMS Foundation , also had an amazing year re-imagining and re-launching the Doctors ’ Ball . The first year of this successful event was held in March , bringing out a packed house of physician members and their guests to Hazelnut Farms as we heartily acknowledged and celebrated our member-selected physicians of the year as well as our paragon award winner . This event served to also raise funds for improving health and wellness in underserved areas of our community . In similar form , our Doctor ’ s Cup golf scramble broke numerous records this year , including experiencing a record turnout , a record amount of raised funds and a record distribution of medical student scholarships in both quantity and amount .
Without further delay and on behalf of our entire team , it is my sincere pleasure to present the respective annual reports of the Greater Louisville Medical Society ( GLMS ) and the GLMS Foundation .
