INTRODUCING MONALISA TAILOR, MD, GLMS PRESIDENT BIJAL PATEL, PHARM.D. COLLEGE ROOMMATE AND FRIEND I had the pleasure of meeting Mona in undergrad. It was freshman year during Chemistry 101, and our ions were attracted by her uplifting, friendly personality. Little did I know that the encounter in the hallway outside of class would turn into a lifelong friendship. We initially chatted about where we were from, our majors, what we wanted to do, and then sat next to each other in class. She always had a way to highlight the positive side of everything. When I was beset with worry, her words inspired me to be calm and study more effectively. Mona’s motivational skills became more obvious to me the next year when we were roommates. I had more science classes sophomore year, and I felt so overwhelmed. Mona and I used to sit in one room and quietly study together. We had a biology class together and Mona eventually taught me her way of taking notes, which was far more organized and easier to read. I learned to study better and ace the exam. Mona has an uplifting, friendly personality and great organizational skills which are top features for any president. I am not surprised at all at her new post! Her thoughtful kindness will make everyone feel included and excited about the work ahead. The society will also be organized efficiently with no chaos, I predict, leading to great discussions on how to take better care of patients.
