COLLEGE ROOMMATE AND FRIEND
I met Mona during freshman year of undergrad at the University of Kentucky and we
became great friends and roommates for the duration. Mona was a very dedicated
and hardworking student. She was always self-motivated and never missed a single
class, even on the days when she was sick. While she made academics a top priority,
she maintained an incredible school-life balance, giving adequate time to her family,
friends, community and extracurricular activities.
Not only was Mona a well-rounded student, but she was also a loyal and caring
friend. She was always there when her friends needed her and never hesitated to help
them in tough situations. As roommates, I remember her waking me up for morning
classes, helping me with physics assignments and even sharing her mom’s delicious
homemade food. I am so thankful for Mona’s friendship and for all the wonderful
memories that we have shared throughout these years.

FRIEND FROM MEDICAL SCHOOL
I love being able to refer patients to people I know personally. It is such
an honor to be entrusted with something so personal and to have people trust my
recommendation. When my neighbor asked me whom I’d recommend for her primary care
doctor, I immediately suggested my classmate Dr. Tailor.
The whole story runs so much deeper than that. I met her when she was Mona, on our very first day
of medical school. We ate our lunch outside in the courtyard on that day. We spent hours and hours
together in the same study group: that was definitely to my benefit. I am sure that my grades improved
because I worked with someone as smart as Mona.
Mona taught me so much more than anatomy and physiology though. She is a natural leader, always chosen
as a class representative for committees, internship and track captain. She is always someone who will
lead by example and inspire others. I am a better doctor today because I learned from Dr. Tailor.
My neighbor reached out to me after the appointment with Dr. Tailor, reporting that she was
thorough, and patient and she even teared up as she was talking with her. “No one has
been that detailed with my care—ever.”
That is the kind of doctor that my friend Mona is. That is the kind
of doctor that I try to be.
