Area Trails
Antique Lane — Highway 11 from Lenoir City through
Loudon and on to neighboring Sweetwater is a scenic country
road dotted with antique shops.
Appalachian Quilt Trail — Five quilt “pieces” are displayed
on buildings in Loudon County. More than 200 quilt squares
are located through 19 East Tennessee counties, connecting to
a series of loops and trails. www.vacationaqt.com
Civil War Trail — Loudon County has six markers along this
trail which includes nearly 800 sites in Tennessee, Virginia,
Maryland and North Carolina. www.civilwartrails.org
East Lakeshore Trail — This trail provides a recreational
and educational hiking trail along a portion of the east
shoreline of Tellico Lake. The trail has been recognized by
the Department of the Interior as a National Recreation Trail.
This trail is not federally-funded and is therefore open at all
times. The trail system was built and is maintained by an all-
volunteer organization, WATeR – Watershed Association of the
Tellico Reservoir, in cooperation with TVA. The over 30-mile

long trail consists of nine segments available for public use.
Access to the trail is provided at five trailheads with vehicle
parking for 15 to 20 vehicles in addition to three boat landings
with easy access to the trail for boaters. www.tellicowater.org
Dams, Lakes & Public Launch Areas
Fort Loudoun Lake, on the Tennessee River, is the upper-
most in the chain of nine TVA reservoirs that form a continu-
ous navigable channel to Paducah, KY, 652 miles away. Ft.
Loudoun has 379 miles of shoreline and 14,600 acres of water
surface. The lake is a popular destination for fishing, boating
and bird watching.
Tellico Lake stretches 33 miles along the Little Tennessee
River into the mountains of east Tennessee. The lake has 357
miles of shoreline and 15,560 acres of water surface. The lake
is popular for boating and offers excellent trout and bass fish-
ing.
Melton Hill Lake is on the Clinch River. It extends almost
57 miles upstream from the Melton Hill Dam to Norris Dam.
Melton Hill has nearly 193 miles of shoreline and 5,470 acres of
water surface. The area around the lake is popular for camp-
ing, walking, jogging and bike racing.
