Hello, my name is DrKevin, and in my opinion, Season 6 of My Little Pony seemed to be quite lacking. In the 12 episodes that have come out so far, I feel like only three episodes stood out to me as a good episode; No Second Prances, A Hearth’s Warming Tail, and Flutter Brutter. In No Second Prances, we get to see the characteristics of both Trixie and Starlight, giving them more development as ponies. We also get to see Twilight, who learns that she isn’t the most forgiving or trusting of other’s decisions. In A Hearth’s Warming Tail, we get a My Little Pony twist on A Christmas Carol. This story revolves around Snowfall Frost (represented by Starlight) who has a disliking for Hearth’s Warming. Although it is just a retelling of a classic story, this musical has a lot of cool new songs that really enhances the story. In addition, the music really fit with the singing. In Flutter Brutter, we get some more character development for Fluttershy. We finally get to see Fluttershy’s origin and her big brother Zephyr.
Nora Grey was a normal sophomore student. She got along with with everyone that is until she met Patch Cipriano. When her biology teacher decided to switch seats for the class, Nora was paired with Patch. The first assignment they had together was to answer questions about each other. He seemed to know everything about her, but she didn’t know anything about him. As the story progressed, Nora got to know a little more about Patch, but she only got more curious.
While getting breakfast with her best friend, Vee Sky, they met Elliot Saunders and Jules Langeais. They became friends with them and went out a lot, until Nora found out something about Elliot that makes her doubt him. Vee is mistaken for Nora and is attacked. She thinks that Patch was the attacker and doesn’t trust him. Later on it’s revealed that Nora lives in a world full of things that she had never imagined.
As I’ve said before, this book is full of suspense making it very memorable. Things happen that the reader would never even think of. When the reader thinks that he or she has everything figured out, something new arises. It is a book that must be read.
What made these episodes stand out is that they all had character development. As an audience, we were able to see into the character and learn more about them; their history, their personality, or just getting to know them better in general. However, although these episodes were a standout above the rest, these episodes still had their flaws. This season compared to the other seasons, seemed like it lacked an overarching storyline. Seasons 1-3 all had the buildup to Twilight becoming a princess, and Season 4 had Twilight become the princess of friendship. In season 5, we traveled Equestria, along with the help of the Castle’s map. However, in season 6, there doesn’t seem to be a real overarching theme. Although there have been character development in most of the episodes, these episodes didn’t seem all that special. They seemed forced, and made with minimal attention given to the creation of them.
"However, in season 6, there doesn’t seem to be a real overarching theme. "
