The impact of food allergy
The symptoms can include :
� rashes ( usually very itchy ); � tingling sensation in the mouth ; � swelling of the lips , tongue , face and throat ; � difficulty breathing ; � diarrhoea and / or vomiting ; � abdominal cramps ; � and on rare occasions anaphylaxis .
it is estimated that 1-2 % of adults and 5-8 % of children have a food allergy . This is around 4 million people living in Italy with a food allergy which does not include those with food intolerances such as lactose intolerance and coeliac disease .
