games since. Unlike the Super Nintendo version of Final Fight 1, the
sequel allows 2 players, and the visuals appear to have been refined.
The Mad Gear gang have reformed
and kidnapped Guy’s fiancee. Guy
is way on a training journey and
cannot be reached, so Haggar, Carlos and Maki team up to defeat the
Mad Gears once again. The music
is as good as the original, as are
the controls. I’m not sure whether
James and I ever completed the
game, but we played it many times.
Earlier James and I had played a
game called Rival Turf. Everything
about this side scrolling beat em
up just felt very average. I think that
we may have completed it with the
aid of an Action Replay, though this
was the only way we could beat it.
The gameplay was very ‘cheap’,
and you could be in the middle of attacking an enemy, when out of nowhere they would be attacking you
back with no means of stopping it.
Collision detection was also a little
questionable, but we persevered.
The sequel, Brawl Brothers, was
greatly improved over the original.
It was James wh o informed me that
the Rival Turf went by the name
Rushing Beat in Japan, and that
Brawl Brothers was the sequel,
also known as Rushing Beat Run.
At the time James was far more
savvy on video game trivia than I,
as I was always more interested in
playing the games. Brawl Brothers
featured 5 characters, and James
