A rainbow

in the

courtyard

Peeping outside the window on a rainy evening, I see the sky adorned with a rainbow. The perfect 7 shades, tied around like a necklace to the sky; oh!! That beauty. Was it a masterstroke painted by nature, or was it some chemical mystery or was it my very own reflection?? I continue to admire that soothing sight. A rainbow out there in the sky; a rainbow within me.

“Yes I am a woman.

A whirlpool of feelings at times,

An ocean of emotions sometimes;

With some sass and swag, I put on my heels,

Filled with vigor, to me, the world kneels;

Your origin resides in the divinity of my womb,

Don’t cage me in your opinions; I can fight the doom;

Pink or blue, the world was split into two,

In every role of life, I choose to share my completeness with you;

Yes I am a woman.”

Presenting the 7 hues that define a rainbow and blending it with every emotion that resides within a woman, defining her and defending her.

She

:

Green : Life, fertility, renewal

A dotting 13 year old, dressed up in a lovely green dress, wearing her mom’s heels, trying on her make-up, today sits in front of the mirror, crying, sulking, scared. “Mom, there is blood coming out of me and I have no idea why is this happening!!! Am I sick or am I hurt?”, she screamed. Her mom looks into her puzzled yet horror-struck eyes, takes her into her arms and gets nostalgic. Her little caterpillar is now ready to turn into a butterfly. She ruffles her hair and explains to her the bliss of being a girl. She tells her how she is blessed with a gift of

fertility; with a gift of making possible the mere existence of human life. She expresses to her all the pain, cramp, sickness, her doll is going to witness in the coming years. She asks her not to complain or get petrified but be strong and admire the gift of Nature; the gift to gift life to the world; the gift of Fertility; The gift of “Birth”.

“She is born with a gift of Birth,

Her adolescence and innocence gives life its Worth;

Pain and Cramps, she bears it All,

Mother nature witnesses a mother in that Doll;

Barren or Fertile, the world judges her with opinions in Handful,

A mother, for sure, whether her womb is empty or Full”
