to say. So I said what the heck and went for it! And I'm so glad I did! Long story short, I did it for my love of books and writing.
What are you most looking forward to on your blogging journey?
Quite honestly I'm very much looking forward to all of the authors I have yet to read from and the books I have yet to read. I've only been blogging for about 4 months now, and I've already found some fantastic books I probably never would have picked up otherwise. I've also discovered some amazing authors already.
What genres do you prefer reading?
I prefer reading YA fiction but to narrow that down a bit I love contemporary, romance, and fantasy. I also enjoy reading memoirs, and some adult fiction. But I'm always open to trying something new, because I never really know what's going to grab me in a book and I don't really like to limit myself too much to what I will accept. That's why I put in my bios that I'm open to basically anything YA, and that if you're releasing your debut or your tenth or millionth novel to reach out to me because I love discovering something new and amazing. Of course I won't fall head over heels for EVERYTHING I read, but I don't want to risk missing out either.
If you could ask your favorite author anything, who would you be asking & what would you be asking?
This is so tricky because I have multiple favorite authors and a million questions to ask all of them. So much pressure! I think I'll focus on my newest favorite writer, Tomi Adeyemi, because every day I find myself wanting to reread her debut novel CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE but I have too many other things to do (but I'm definitely planning on rereading it before the next installment comes out, which actually releases on my birthday, March 5th ah!). I
the next installment comes out, which actually releases on my birthday, March 5th ah!). I would ask Tomi Adeyemi if being an author is everything she had hoped it would be? Because I've wanted to be a writer ever since I wrote my first short story in 5th grade, which I still have. I dream about it so much that I fear I'll be disappointed if it ever became a reality. Also I'd want her to know that her book is amazing and I can't wait for the next one to come out and I think she's doing amazing work and she's so talented.
What book or series got you into reading?
This is actually such a tricky question because I don't really know! Isn't that the worst answer ever? Here's the thing though, I just always remember loving to read. In kindergarten I was sent to read with the 1st graders because I was ahead (humble brag much?), and my sister was that way too. I remember reading THE GIVING TREE a lot because it was my mom's favorite book and I wanted it to be my favorite book too (and it still is a favorite). I remember reading so much Shel Silverstein in 4th grade when we did a poetry unit. I remember my 5th grade teacher reading ABDUCTION! by Peg Kehret to us and I loved it so much I got my own copy and read it multiple times. I read through middle school and high school and reading has been getting me through college. Reading has just always been something I've done, and writing too. Like breathing. But I think the short answer is, a book or book series didn't get me into reading. I think my mom did, long before I can really even remember. And my teachers just deepened that appreciation.
