first, I make out what it is- a couch. Around it, a wolf and bird surround it. That’s
when it hit me.
It was humanity’s fault in why we all couldn’t remain on Earth. We failed to learn
how to coexist with nature and eventually doomed ourselves. We let technology
and our harming habits to Earth control us. It paved the way for us to no longer
find Earth a sustainable place for all 7 billion people here on Earth. Us humans
were always the problem, never the solution. I think back to my teenage years and
thought, “This is your fault James. While you were locked in your room, sitting on
the couch on your phone, you should’ve been outside seeing the signs. You
could’ve enjoyed the scenery. You could’ve seen the harm humans were causing
Earth, If you, along with others, would’ve taken the time and made a difference,
we would still coexist.”
The sight of the couch in the middle of the Grand Canyon was an uneasy sight for
me. I saw it as a reminder and a slap in the face to what used to be the civilization
in which I resided in. As the sun sets, I can’t help but cry. All these emotions and
memories, slowly fading just like the sunset. I feel life becoming harder here and
Earth. Taking note of every day on life here on Earth, I end this very last entry
knowing what I should do. Sitting on the edge, feet dangling, I ask for forgiveness.
Whoever finds my journal in the near future, I hope they take my words and
experiences into account. I hope they too realize that what we as humans did was
