The Place Beyond Society Picture yourself like most people today: slumped on your chair, scrolling through social media feed, wishing you could see the world. Have you ever stopped and thought that the reason you aren’t “seeing” is because of you? Believe it or not, there is something much more beautiful and important beyond social media, school, distractions and stress. That place is nature and the scenery around us. Too often we forget to enjoy the scenery around us because we’re too busy sitting inside, closed off from the real world. Think about it. For example, when was the last time you went on a hike without posting something on social media while you were there? You never fully appreciated the view because you were seeing it through a Snapchat camera. What ever happened to enjoying the view? Decade after decade, generation after generation, we slowly drifted from being “one with nature” and coexisting. On the highest point on the Gr and Canyon, I step back and realize how far my mindset and life on Earth has become. After the major technology outbreak in 2085 everyone lucky enough to leave boarded the floating cities NASA had created to sustain human life. I remember seeing the movie Oblivion back in 2015 and thinking that that will never happen. 70 years later and I’m living a similar life just like the movie portrayed.
