I never saw myself as much of a writer
until last year when the best AP English
Language and Composition teacher
ever told me I was one of her best
writers. Thank you for inspiring my
future as a writer, Ms. Carter. One day I
hope to have a novel or two decorating
the shelves at Barnes and Noble, but not
poetry – definitely not poetry.

Biography: Leslie Luqueno is a senior at BGHS and
will be attending Haverford College this fall as a
Political Science and Creative Writing major. She is
the Editor-in-Chief of Lancer Scroll as well as
president of Arsalyn Youth Forums and secretary of
Spanish Club. During her free time, she enjoys reading
news articles, writing, and hanging out with her
friends. As a writer, she has been published by Parallel
Ink Magazine, Imagine Magazine, and the Bridge
Blog. She is currently working on an anthology of
short stories entitled A Different Type of Princess . She
aspires to become a journalist for Univision or a
diplomat and to someday have her anthology
