turned around. Then one day Elijah woke up but Lydia didn’t. He called 911 but by
then it was too late. They took her away. Elijah didn’t know what to do. He
couldn’t believe it. The love of his life was dead. She was no longer going to be
there for him. He went to the park where they’d once gone. He visited the bench
they’d loved so much. He sat there lonely. He was alone again. It began to get dark
and cold. Elijah looked up at the sky and screamed to the heavens in anger.
“What am I supposed to do when the best part of me is gone? What am I supposed
to do when I start falling to pieces? “
Elijah heard a voice. It was Lydia’s.
“ You keep living. You keep living just like I taught you. Keep doing what I taught
you. I love you Elijah. I’ll see you on the other side.”
“ Wait Lydia don’t leave me! I need you. Promise me you’ll meet me in paradise
someday.”
“I promise.”
She was buried on September 1st two years after the very first day they met. Elijah
continued his life doing exactly what Lydia had taught him. He died at the age of
90 in his sleep. In his and Lydia’s memory Henry Moore Elijah’s friend built a
bronze sculpture. In it depicting one male and one female seated besides each other
