From ESL Student to Business Advisor: My Journey at Carlos Rosario School
My name is Maria Teresa Llanos, and I am a proud graduate of Carlos Rosario School, where my journey began in 2016 as an ESL Level 2 student. By 2018, I had completed Level 8 and graduated, marking a major milestone in my life. But my story is not just about learning English, it is about perseverance, entrepreneurship, and giving back to the community that helped me grow.
I arrived in Washington, D. C. from Venezuela in 2016, amidst the challenges my country was facing. In Venezuela, I worked as an Industrial Engineer in the Telecommunications Industry, but when I moved to the U. S., I quickly realized that mastering English would be key to achieving my personal and professional goals. That’ s when I decided to enroll in Carlos Rosario School, where I started with the ESL program. It provided me not only with language skills but also with the confidence to succeed in a new country.
During my studies, I was also part of the first graduating cohort of the Small Business Program at Carlos Rosario School in the Fall of 2016. This program played a critical role in helping me develop my business model, ultimately leading to the registration of my company, Artere Zone, LLC in Washington, D. C.
