JULES MBOUWA ESL 4 MY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL My first day of school was exciting. In my country, I went to school for several years but I never had school in another country. I was very excited to discover American schools. I was sure that it would be better than my country’s school. First, the big building and different classrooms surprised me. The building looked like a big hotel and the classrooms were more beautiful than in my country. I saw the big screen on the wall, the decora- tions, and the tables and chairs ready to use. I was also surprised to see computers and a printer inside the class- room. Second, the teacher was very atten- tive and he was speak- ing to us on a familiar level of English. The big surprise was my class- mates. We were from different countries of the world and we were very happy to be together and learn English. I had a wonderful class that first day that I will never forget. 23
