SOME NOT SO GREAT TRADITIONS
Africa has some hard traditions. In
my Fulani tradition, for example, we
have forced marriage between young
children. Generally, the young girls
are married to older men as second
wives. There is circumcision of girls
too and this is a cultural phenomenon
in my society. This traditional
practice of Africa is still practiced in
some villages by families even if it
is a crime punishable by law. This
tradition has plagued many families
and also destroyed the lives of girls
in Africa in my Mom’s generation
and mine.
