THE LION'S ROAR

NOVEMBER 2020

Celebrating Grandparents in 2020

"Generation after generation will declare more of your greatness and declare more of your glory." -Psalm 145:4

Grandparents are special people! Even though we couldn't welcome our grandparents for an in-person visit this year, our Pre-K and elementary students celebrated each one of the precious grandparents and special grandparent figures during the first week of October. Here are some samples of what each class did to honor their grandparents:

• Our Preschool class recorded a class song and made cards for their grandparents. Watch their song below.

• The K-Prep class made cards for their grandparents using their own handprints as flowers!

Watch below to see our Kindergarten students sing a song for their grandparents. They also made special cards!

• Our 1st Grade class created a poem and placed their handprints on the poem for their grandparents.

• Students in our 2nd grade class read stories about grandparents while focusing on diversity within families and being “like family” with those in the community. They also worked on an acrostic poem about grandparents' characteristics and made cards for their grandparents

• Our 3rd grade class wrote letters that were mailed out to their grandparents. Watch their video below, too!

4th Grade created a video skit for their grandparents, which can be viewed below.

• Our 5th Grade spent time each day that week talking about their grandparents and what each of their grandparents means to them. The students also spent time each day completing grandparent-related activities and then were able to bring home packets to share with their grandparents at the end of the week.
