At Cornerstone we love celebrating every child, every year. However, particular milestones certainly deserve a little extra celebration!
PROMOTIONS & GRADUATIONS
5th Grade Promotion
Our Grade 5 Promotion celebrated our students' transition from elementary school to middle school. After hearing a powerful message from their teacher Mrs. Loftus, each student shared a brief speech introducing themselves to the audience. We heard about their fondest memories as well as their personal goals for middle school.
At Cornerstone, the completion of Grade 5 marks the end of schooling in the elementary building where students have primarily had one teacher in one self-contained classroom each year. After Grade 5, students "cross the field" to the McLain Building and begin middle school with multiple classrooms, multiple teachers….and lockers!
This year we celebrated this momentous transition with a ceremonial crossing of the field. Students from elementary school and middle school lined the field and cheered as the Cornerstone Class of 2030 made their way from the Elementary Building to the McLain (secondary) Building where they were greeted by their new Class Advisor, Mrs. Pam Roberts.
8th Grade Graduation
Succesfully completing middle school is another milestone celebrated at Cornerstone. Our 8th Grade Graduation featured moving messages and words of encouragement from the class advisor Mrs. Pam Roberts, as well as from Mrs. Jennifer Brey. The students had also prepared two video presentations that were shared; student speeches were also given. After a brief reception, our students headed out for an afternoon together at a local park, which was followed by a fun lunch together.
Pre-K Graduation
Cuteness flooded the stage during this celebration as our K-Prep students celebrated the end of the year and their transition into Kindergarten. Miss Maggie Jordan presented each child with a certificate celebrating a character trait before the child crossed the bridge from K-Prep to be welcomed to Kindergarten by the current Kindergarten class.
