THE LION'S ROAR

JUNE 2022

JUNIOR/SENIOR BANQUET

After two years of COVID disruptions to our traditional Junior-Senior Banquet, we once again enjoyed honoring our seniors by celebrating together at a local venue. We are grateful for the servers at The Hollow at Manchester Country Club for helping us enjoy each other's company as we blessed our seniors on Saturday, May 7.

The juniors presented personalized messages and gifts to our seniors, which tied in with the banquet's overarching theme of "A Night in Paris" and subtheme of an art museum. The juniors, seniors, their guests, seniors' parents, and members of our faculty and staff and their spouses also enjoyed snacks, a taco bar, and dessert of cookies and brownies, as well as homemade cupcakes. CCS alumna Joanna (Snyder) Alvarez provided festive gluten-free cupcakes, and Tammy Choleva provided vanilla cupcakes.

JennT Photography delighted the guests by running the photo booth. We also enjoyed live music provided by senior Robbie Shemenski and his bandmates – seniors Gabe Pekari and Billy Gray, and former CCS students Paul Bearchell and Liam Eakins. John Choleva ran the computer during the presentation and the music during the line dancing. We are grateful for everyone's help in making the evening an enjoyable time for all!

VARSITY ATHLETICS AWARDS

Despite many challenges, we are grateful for the ability to have had our varsity soccer and basketball seasons this school year!   On May 27, the middle and high school students gathered and recognized the accomplishments of our varsity-level student athletes during their respective seasons. Many thanks to Mr. Jim Kirch, our Athletic Director, for scheduling (and re-scheduling) games in the midst of challenging COVID restrictions and regulations.  We also acknowledge Mr. Keith Press, Mr. Alex Clark, Mr. Paul Howard, Mrs. Jodi Hoover, and Mrs. Melanie Thurber for their investments of time and talent as our teams’ coaches.  Lastly, thanks to the students and parents who faithfully supported and encouraged our sports teams!  It was a great year despite the trials!

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY CAR WASH

On Saturday, May 14, the CCS Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) conducted a car wash as their annual service project to raise funds to support the MACC Food Pantry in Manchester. CCS members Norah, Meisha, Sarah, Cityra, and Madison organized this fun event; they had 15 volunteers (students and adults) working together! Through the generous donations of their customers, they raised over $400.
