Transportation Information
Please carefully review the following information regarding safe transportation of our students. If you will
have a student driver, please be sure to also review the information with your student.
Campus Traffic Pattern
It is very important that we all observe the traffic pattern for our campus. A traffic pattern map is available
through the CCS app. Please review the map to ensure a fluid and safe traffic pattern.
Remember, also, to always stop for buses when their lights are flashing, even when buses are located on
private property. DO NOT PASS A SCHOOL BUS WITH FLASHING LIGHTS; this is a state law.
Typical Morning Arrivals
All students (Pre-K through Grade 12) arriving between 7:50 and 8:20 AM are to be dropped off at the
elementary building. Students must never be dropped off before 7:50 AM.
Students in Pre-K through Grade 5 will enter through the double doors around the back of the elementary
building. Parents may drive around to the doors; however, parents should NOT leave their cars unattended.
Instead, parents wishing to enter the building must park in one of the parking lots and walk to the double
doors. A teacher will open the door for the children who will then wait in the cafeteria for the 8:20 AM
release to their classrooms.
Students in Grades 6-12 will enter through the doors at the top of the stairs under the elementary portico.
Parents should NOT leave their cars unattended and must park if they wish to enter the building. Students
will wait in the fellowship hall for the 8:20 AM release to the McLain building. Students MAY NOT be dropped
off at the McLain building before the doors are opened at 8:20 AM. If the doors are locked, parents must
wait with their students or drop them off at the elementary building.
Typical Afternoon Dismissals
School is dismissed each day by 3:05 PM. It is important that those who are responsible for picking up the
students make every effort to arrive on time.
We realize that there are unusual circumstances that occur without advance notice which may delay
parents on rare occasions. If this happens, please notify the school office of the delay as soon as possible.
Students through Grade 8 who are not picked up by 3:15 PM will automatically be sent to GLC, our
extended day program, for the regular, daily fee. We do not have an after school program for our high
school students; these students will remain in the McLain office, and the parents will be charged a fee for
late pick-up when they arrive.
Elementary students should be picked up at the right-hand entrance of the building. (See the traffic pattern
map). Please enter through the far foyer doors and give your name to the teacher on duty. Middle and
high school students will be released at the back door by the parking lot of the McLain building.
Dismissal Notes:
If your child will be going home with a friend after school, we must have a note from both you and the
parent with whom your child will be riding. If an alternate ride arrangement is necessary, we require a note
from you indicating the adult’s name and relationship to your child. S/he may be asked to provide some
form of identification. If a last-minute situation does not allow you time to notify us in writing, please call the
school office as soon as possible.
Dismissal Safety Tips
1. Watch your speed! Please remember to drive slowly, stay alert, and watch for pedestrians,
especially small children!
2. Stop for pedestrians! Please remember to stop for pedestrians at all crosswalks.
