THE LION'S ROAR
APRIL 2022
Several of our CCS teachers and administrators have begun reading together a book called Rethinking Discipleship: Why Christian Schooling Matters by Dr. Alan Pue. We meet together each Thursday morning to discuss how God is challenging us to fulfill the CCS mission "to engage and educate young people to know Christ and be equipped to impact the world for God's Kingdom." It is not enough to help someone learn that Jesus is Savior. If that were so, then our mission statement would stop there. Instead, we must model and teach that knowing Jesus means we will also want to know everything we can about Him...to spend time with Him...to become like Him...to become His disciple.
Jesus did not give us an easy assignment when He told us to go and make disciples...teaching them to observe all that He had commanded us. (Matthew 28:19-20) He knew that only disciples would be able to make more disciples. A disciple, according to Merriam-Webster.com, is "one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another." We must first accept the teaching of another, and then we believe it so strongly that we are compelled to tell others about the one whose teachings we study and believe.
We must, therefore, be intentional in the process of Christian disciple-making. We must be intentional about our own pursuit to better know Christ and His teachings, and we must be intentional about encouraging our young people to pursue becoming a disciple alongside us. As Christian educators, we are reminded how difficult the task is. We also know (many as parents) how hard it can be to make our own discipleship a priority in the busyness of life, not to mention that of our children.
As partners with you in the education of your children, I pray that we will be strengthened in our work together to fulfill the CCS mission. May we personally invite our young people to join us in being disciples of Jesus through a Christian education at CCS!

HOW A VIRTUAL AUCTION IDEA BROUGHT FAMILIES TOGETHER
Submitted by Ed Main

Many CCS families remember our mutual friends the Light family (Garry, Tonia and former CCS students Malachi and Addison). In the spring of 2021, as a call for the Annual Auction came to all CCS families, Garry and Tonia came up with an idea. The family wanted to donate a service that could be done by the whole family, would be outside, and according to Garry "would not
