to see his children and grandchildren become more involved in the family operation. If elected to serve on the NALF board, Bruce looks forward to working with and serving his fellow members to grow the breed and further penetrate the commercial bull market with the ultimate goals being to strengthen the Limousin breed’s position and image in the U.S. beef cattle industry. Charles Linhart Linhart Limousin, Leon, Iowa, began as CJ Limousin in 1979 with the purchase of 4-H projects for Charles, and his brother, John. The halfblood heifers formed the base for the herd that called Minnesota home until 1983. In operation with his parents, David and Lana, the operation has grown to near 800 producing females. The operation relies heavily on AI and also uses embryo transplant with the goal of producing bulls for commercial cattlemen and replacement females for fellow seedstock producers. Linhart cattle are raised on fescue pastures and have the resistance to work in the harshest of conditions. They have adopted the no ‘short cuts’ mentality over the years that reflects in the many premier donor cow families and elite herd sires. Charles is a member of the Iowa and Missouri Limousin Associations, as well as NALF. Charles and his wife, Heather, have three sons, Aaron, Kyle and Kevin. Charles enjoys spending time with his family, as well as hunting and fishing. Wade Beckman As you would imagine, being from Idaho, Wade was born and raised on a potato farm in the south- eastern part of the state. The family farm also had a set of commercial cows. It didn’t take Wade long to figure out he would rather raise cattle than spuds. Wade and wife Vicki bought their first Limousin bull, in 1979, to use on their commercial cows. In 1983 Wade became the cattle manager for the Broken Arrow Ranches Limousin operation. After their dispersal in 1994, Wade and Vicki decided to continue on their own in the Limousin seed-stock business. As with many start up agriculture operations, an off-farm job comes into play. Wade became a professional applicator for a large retail fertilizer and chemical dealer. In 2008, when their son, Sedar and his wife, Danna graduated from college, they returned home to farm full time. Today the father-son team, along with their wives, own and operate Beckman Livestock and Farming, a mid-size hay and malt- barley farm with 100 Lim-Flex females and a small group of commercial cows. They also enjoy the support of their daughter Devori and her husband, Dr. Matt Spangler. In 2013, the family also started an annual bull sale along with two Angus breeders. Wade is also currently a director on the board of the West-side Soil and Water Conservation District and a director on the board of the Butte-Market Lake Canal Co. Randy Corns Super C Limousin is owned and operated by Randy Corns, his wife Nancy, and two daughters Randee and Ashlee. Randy, along with his dad, Jim, started raising Limousin LIMOUSIN Today | 29
