One of my favourite: ‘All of Nature Flows Through Us' by Marc Quinn (left) is a true copy of Christen Sveeas' iris. By leading the river through the eye, the artist emphasizes the direct connection between man and nature and encourages us to take responsibility for nature and our surroundings
Another favourite: ‘Shine of Life” by Yayoi Kusama. Rising from the water inlet of the mill, this work’s swirling tentacles are a monumental example of Yayoi Kusama’s obsession with pattern and colour.
Lastly the phenomenal architectural building: “The Twist” a gallery, a bridge, and a sculpture, all in one. The 1000 square metre building twists
into a sculptural form and spans 60 metres across the Randselva river. The building was designed by the Danish star architects BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group and is cited as a "must-see" cultural destination.

Concept
It started in 1999 with mainly Norweigan sculptors, and Kistefos now has 51 sculptures by global, prominent, contemporary artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Claes Oldenburg, Olafur Eliasson, Anish Kapoor, Fernando Botero, Marc Quinn, Jeppe Hein, Tony Cragg, and Elmgreen & Dragset.
The works range from the monumental to the unobtrusive, the profound to the playful. The sculpture collection is permanent and many of the sculptures are site-specific - meaning that the artist has created the artwork especially for Kistefos, directly inspired by the history, cultural heritage or nature of the place.
