In June I visited Oslo enroute to Svalbard.
I took the opportunity to visit the sculpture park called: “Kistefos” about an hour's drive outside of Oslo. I was intrigued by the architecture and design layout in the context of the natural landscape and wanted to find out more.
There have been many wood pulp mills powered by waterfalls in Scandinavia.
In Norway alone, there have been about 100 pulp mills. ‘Kistefos’ pulp mill started in 1890 and finished in 1955. It is the only one that has preserved both buildings and production equipment almost in its entirety. It conveys industrial history that is unique in Norwegian and Scandinavian industralisation
