Once the details of the applications are confirmed by the sculptors, they are asked to fill out the Cognito final sales form.
It is this form which is printed out together with a good photograph that you will find at the sales desk so that purchasers can see the piece they want to buy.
The photos are also used for the photo boards, which stand outside the sales tent. These attract people over and make it a good opportunity to chat to potential buyers.
All sales are now taken on our lovely ipads via Cognito and it was part of my remit last year to ensure that all the sculptors were happy to use the technology. This was a really good opportunity to meet the sculptors, as although, I know many of the names I didn’t know faces.
This year training was offered, again to any who needed it, on set up day
Alison, Abby Martin, Seamus and others have been so helpful to me; always happy to chat and tell me how they have sorted out how to administer different forms. What to send to whom and when!
Actually any query I have however small there is always someone to ask. It’s great!
Although I still have days when I think I don’t quite know what I am doing it is very satisfying to solve the problem and see the exhibition evolving so I am really enjoying it.
To all those potential managers out there, volunteer to be a trainee and jump in with both feet!
