Christine takes up the story...

Greta Thunberg for Winchester University was the first to be unveiled.

The press had a field day. I was on BBC Radio 4 Woman's Hour, Good Morning Britain, BBC Radio West Midlands, News slots, and every local news paper. I was amazed to see that the story had even been printed in newspapers in Australia, Canada, USA and Africa.

I was interviewed on Zoom by Swedish TV and another Swedish TV channel actually came to my home to video me outside the studio, in the garden with sculptures for a documentary.

Real global coverage!

It obviously wasn't me that caused all this 'fame' though, it was the fact that this was the first statue of Greta Thunberg the environmental activist. I really didn't understand that feelings were so very mixed about her, plus a number of students at the University of Winchester didn't understand the 'percentage for art' and wanted the money to be spent on student things.

Initially, a few people from Winchester thought the statue of Greta was going in the town center and were a bit angry. But I have also had some wonderful comments and it has been a great new experience for me. Actually, it has been great fun to push myself to do scary things, such as appear to be intelligent and know what I am talking about!
