flags and free, pocket-size copies of the U. S. Constitution, while supplies last. Saturday, July 4 brings out the fireworks, food trucks and fun for Independence Day. Festivities ramp up that morning with the inaugural Red, White and Zoom 5K, and continue into the evening at the Sportsplex with food trucks, live music, vendors and an expanded fireworks show.

Along with the main Red, White and Boom Festival, Athens Main Street is also planning a 250th celebration at the Athens Farmers Market on July 4

Athens Art League’ s“ My America Inspiration” Art Contest

Athens Arts League is now accepting art submissions for the " My American Inspiration " Art Contest. Entries will be accepted through the end of April. Art pieces will be displayed after judging and until August at Scout House, Athens City Hall, Athens- Limestone Tourism and Athens State University.
This year ' s contest focuses on America ' s 250th anniversary. The art contest is encouraging students in grades K-college to learn about American history and to find someone whose American story inspires them.
