Turn the dials. Watch red heat glow.
See the green flame. Learn the
fundamentals of firing Lillstreet’s
Bailey kilns by firing your own and
others’ glazed work from start to
finish. This is the first step toward
understanding the firing process.

Throughout history, emotions have
been depicted through the human
form. In this workshop we will hand
build sculptural forms that depict
the essence of the figure and its
symbolic relationship to the vessel as a
container of the human spirit. Simple
or stylized gestures of the figure can
evoke a sense of a universal shared
emotion or experience.

Make a stoneware “rock” to honor your
pain history and a porcelain “object
of hope” to honor your core value.
Your pieces will join with hundreds
from other workshops in installations
of a luminous cloud floating over a
cairn (a mound of rough stones built
as a memorial), bringing the healing
light of compassion to the darkness of
individual loss.
