BEGINNING HANDBUILDING

FIGURATIVE SCULPTURE
(10 WEEKS)

(10 WEEKS)

Students will explore a step-by-step
approach to body proportions,
construction problem solving and
internal armature, the planes of the
figure, human expression and body
gesture. There will be class discussions
on surface treatment for sculpture. A
model will be used as needed and fee
collected in class. All levels welcome.

CERAMICS

Many people are drawn to the direct
contact of handbuilding in clay.
Whether your aim is functional or
sculptural ceramics, learn the basic
techniques of handbuilding with clay.
Work with slabs, coils and pinching
to create virtually anything you
can dream up. Use of tools such as
molds, slab roller and extruder will be
demonstrated. Class fee includes one
25-pound bag of clay.
