SEWING 101: FASHION TRENDS (AGES 14+) (5 WEEKS) Spend your afternoon with teens who are interested in fashion just like you. Learn sewing vocabulary, thread a machine and trace a simple pattern while making friends. Everyone walks away with their own garment. Material fee includes threads and most notions. Students bring in their own fabric selections after the first class. Monday 10am-1pm Edy Adams Session I: Starts January 12 Saturday 10am-1pm (5 WEEKS) SEWING 1O1: ELASTIC SKIRT (AGES 9-12) (5 WEEKS) Gain confidence and a new skill by learning to sew. Wednesday 4:30-6pm Nora Renick-Rinehart Session I: Starts January 14 Session II: Starts February 18 Do you have drawings or designs that would look great on a T-shirt? Look at examples of popular graphic tees and make a cool shirt of your very own. You’ll get to develop your own individual logos, drawings and clever sayings for one-of-a-kind gear. Learn about the photo-emulsion process, registration and how to pull clean prints. Material fee includes inks and two T-shirts for printing. Monday 4:30-6pm Camille Canales Session I: Starts January 12 Session II: Starts February 16 Get ideas out of your sketchbook and onto posters and T-shirts. Each week the class will look at contemporary prints, including works from street artists in Chicago, to use as inspiration for designs. Work in the Textile Studios learning the printing process from beginning to end. Materials fee includes some paper, tote bag and inks. TEXTILES Now you don’t have to choose between printing studios—you can create projects on both paper and fabric. Students will compare TZ and 925WR photo-emulsions while revisiting color separations and registration. Turn drawings or digital files into fine art and utilitarian objects. Instructor will share knowledge from commercial and fine art industries, and present examples of work from contemporary artists. Material fee includes some ink and general printing supplies. Students provide fabric and some paper.
