BEGINNING GARMENT
CONSTRUCTION
(10 WEEKS)
Master the sewing machine while
completing at least one garment,

clothing item or following an existing

have taken both First-Time Sewing
and Zippers and Buttons, and are
ready to dive into a more personalized
project. Serger and coverstitch
machines will be demonstrated as they
relate to projects.

SCREENPRINTING ON FABRIC
(5 WEEKS)
Did you get hooked on screenprinting
in our First-Time class, but want to
reinforce the basics? Become a pro
at stripping, coating and exposing
screens, and get a clean print every
time. Gain new skills to enhance your
prints such as designing repeats,
printing with thickened dyes, and
multicolor registration. Material fee
includes some materials in class and
open studio. Students provide inks
and fabrics.
Prerequisite: First-Time Screenprint
on Fabric or Paper.
Sunday 2-5pm
No matter your skill level, by the
end of this 10-week class you’ll have
made a completely functional lap
quilt. Students are able to add design
twists to a deceptively simple pattern
by experimenting with color, pattern
and geometry. No materials needed on
the first day. Some sewing experience
suggested but not required. All levels
welcome.

your choice and tackle independent
projects. Expect to be inspired, ramp
up production and experiment with
new materials. Bring fabrics and
your favorite prints to the first class.
Material fee includes general printing
supplies. Inks and dyes available for
purchase.

ZIPPERS & BUTTONS
Tuesday 2-5pm
Similar to watercolor, painting with
dyes allows the artist to work wet-onwet or wet-on-dry for painterly prints
on fabric. Known as dye monoprint,
the process uses your favorite brushes
and brushstrokes to paint imagery
directly onto screens and transfer
them onto cloth. Come to class
ready to paint on something other
than paper or canvas. No experience
needed. Material fee includes all dye
paints and general supplies. Students
provide fabric after first class.
