PROBLEM SOLVING FOR OIL PAINTERS (10 WEEKS) Your ideas become the subject of individualized instruction as you expand your skills as a painter. If you choose, a still life set up will be available each week to further develop your skills in representational painting. This is a class for students with previous painting experience. Please come to the first class prepared to work in oils on a 16” x 20” canvas. Wednesday 10am-1pm Bob Horn Starts January 14 $330, Members $320 THE PORTRAIT AND COSTUMED FIGURE Students who would like to paint or draw from the clothed figure will benefit from multiple sessions working from the same pose. Participants have the option to work on a portrait or a full figure composition. Individualized instruction supports students in developing their skills and own style. Friday 10am-1pm Bob Horn Starts January 16 $330, Members $320 $60 model fee DRAWING AND PAINTING THE NUDE FIGURE (10 WEEKS) Individualized instruction supports students as they develop new skills and styles. Working from the nude model, poses are extended through multiple sessions providing students with experience and the opportunity to develop a more considered drawing or painting. Conventional materials include oils, pastels or other drawing media and are supplied by the student. Students should have a foundation in drawing and drawing the nude figure. (5 WEEKS) Expand your vision in a live, interactive work environment using all forms of abstraction and non-objective painting. Focus will be on formal issues, exploring and encouraging skill development, techniques and materials. Individual needs will be addressed. Works of influential artists will be discussed and visits to galleries encouraged. This class will help you develop and refine your personal creative goals. Friday 10am-1pm Cynthia Vaicunas Session I: Starts January 16 Session II: Starts February 20 $175, Members $170 CLASSES FOR TEENS AND FAMILIES PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT: PAINTING WITH MARKERS MAKING COMICS: START TO FINISH (5 WEEKS) (5 WEEKS) AGES 13+ AGES 13+ Students will be introduced to marker techniques necessary to portray their subject matter in an illustrative and painterly style. Starting with gray scale, students can practice marker control with different textures to further develop technical skill. These skills will then be developed and applied to full color illustrative paintings. Students will develop several portfolio-ready works of 14”x17” or larger. Supply list available online. Learn from a graphic novelist all the steps involved in producing your own comic. From scripting and thumbnailing to penciling, inking and layout we’ll go step by step and learn all the tricks and techniques. For beginners looking to learn about the medium or artists wanting a little guided direction.
