the space where people can explore their beliefs, their thought patterns and the changes that they want to make and start making some commitments about what they are going to do, be or have that is different in the future.
The challenge for coaches today, is the vast array of ways we have to communicate. A conversation with even one person can start in person, continue on an audio-only phone call to text type messages and end up in voluminous books in email.
Many people will have their own preferred way of communicating and often a distinct style. It’ s important to honour that and of course, find that common ground that’ s within your own boundaries.
In every way I communicate today, there’ s been a journey of growth to learn to be effective in that form.
Writing. I love to blog and guest feature. If I could, I would write most of the day, every day. I’ m inspired by conversations and love to get to express in words, giving perspectives and insights, what I have learned and what I know to be true.
It’ s not that I had to learn to write, I did however have to learn to allow myself to write. Days when people tell me‘ I can hear your voice in your writing’ is when I know I’ m communicating effectively, sharing in the way I desire to and touching others at a soul level.
“ The idea is to write so that people hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart”- Maya Angelou
Video Well let’ s all have a collective cringe at the memories of the first time we clicked on video and font-facing camera modes for the same shot. Getting over the nonsense of‘ hate the way I look / sound / what I say '( keep going and add more excuses to the dozens I’ ve thought at some point) has been totally worth it.

Facebook Live is the latest of rapidly advancing technologies and not only does it give the benefit of ' hear and see ' the person, guests can interact live with comments and questions. Perfect for coaches in the limelight where their clients can maintain their desired anonymity!
Not only have I created a membership site for my regular clients – this soul space has a vast number of videos on topics that I regularly talk about. So whether you are a new client needing to get a good grounding on my teachings or a client that needs just a little something to re-connect, this has been a tremendous asset and platform for me to help my clients.
Video is also a great way of sharing stories. Stories that would otherwise be for the books, too voluminous for a shorter post or blog, can be shared in a couple of minutes on a video. It’ s easier to bring them to life too, especially for humour, as we can be far more expressive in 3-D that we can using 26 letters. Humour and light-heartedness are a must, we want to inspire others, not bring them to an emotional quagmire!
One take videos or being ready for FB Live and video webinars didn’ t happen over-night but it’ s a skill that is essential for all coaches to get their message out there and share their message and stories with their clients and tribe.
There is no one size fits all method or mode in communication. It’ s speaking from the heart and sharing your stories that creates a resonance with those around you. And it ' s that heartfelt connection that makes the world of a difference.
